UniverSoul HTML5 Ad Comparisons – Jeffrey Sisk
My Thoughts (Jeff): As you know for 20+ years I have been editing video for commericals, live shows, websites, etc. I have about 30+ years with graphics design (including static ads in standard sizes, and animate GIFs. After doing a full deep dive for UniverSoul on 150kb html5 ads, we can do impressive things to make them clearly stand out next to other ads. Here are some of the key takeaways:
1. I can animate graphics and text the same way I can for video ads in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (including backgrounds).
2. We can use limited video (see sample clown ad). The 150kb limit restricts this to about 4 or 5 seconds, but makes the ad stand out.
3. This allows us to have stunning eye catching ads compared to standard static graphic ads, or animated GIFs.
4. We can use html5 for all formats requested by UniverSoul: 728×90 (Leaderboard), 300×600 (Half Page), 320×50 (Mobile Banner), 160×600 (Wide Skyscraper), 300×250 (Medium Rectangle), 970×250 (Billboard), 970×90 (Super Billboard)
HTML5 Samples (From Jeff):
New HTML5 Ad Format – 300×250
Can animate text and graphics like video ads, and can include video in ads.
New HTML5 Ad Format – 300×250
With animated background
HTML5 Video Test – 300×250
This is not an ad, it is a video test to show html5 video capability. Because of the 150kb limit, you can only use about 5 seconds of video at 5 frames per second.
Static Graphics Ads (Sent from Ben… What you are using now):
Animated Gif Format – 300×250
Fixed graphics – No animation. Only allows rotating between static graphic panels
